Welcome to The Bennett Arms, an art deco building in the Hudson Heights neighborhood of upper Manhattan.
The Bennett Arms, commonly known as "120 Bennett", is located on the southwest corner of Bennett Avenue and West 187th Street. It is situated one block west of Broadway, and just minutes away from both the express A and #1 subway lines, and buses.
This pre-war building has six-stories with 82 spacious units including studios, one-bedrooms, junior fours, and two-bedrooms (with two bathrooms).
Architectural Features of Building
The Bennett Arms was designed in 1937 by Horace Ginsbern, an architect known for his Art Deco buildings, including the landmark Park Plaza on Jerome Avenue in the Bronx. An exquisite art deco lobby features terrazzo floors, a painted mural on canvas original to the building in a WPA style, and sconce lighting. The floors in the building’s hallways are made of polished granite in typical Art Deco colors.
All apartments offer hardwood floors, built-in bookcases, double-hung and double-paned windows, and lovely archways. Most units have sunken living rooms.
Residents also have access to an intimate outdoor oasis—a landscaped rear patio with flowering shrubs and the shade of trees. Benches provide an ideal spot to read or relax, and there is ample room for children to play.
