There are a number of different options for grocery shopping in the area. In addition to local bodegas, there are a number of markets within walking distance or with delivery service that will satisfy any cook's needs.

Frank's Market
West 187th between Pinehurst and Fort Washington. A gourmet market with fresh fish, meats, and produce. A nice selection of organic food but the prices can be steep at this market.
Keyfood
Broadway between West. 186th and W. 187th.
A chain supermarket that is in sore need of renovation. Still, its proximity makes it a good source for basics and last-minute cooking needs. It is also a good market for kosher food.

Associated
Fort Washington and W. 187th Street.
A chain supermarket, which overall has better offerings than Keyfood.

Karrot
West 181st Street
A whole foods store that has a small but nice selection of organic foods and products, and an excellent juice bar.

Fresh Direct
Thankfully, this online grocery store nows delivers to Washington Heights. Great prices and a great selection, including organic. The prices are comparable to Fairway and definitely cheaper than Frank's.

Fairway
West 132nd and the West Side Highway
This store can't be beat for its selection of high quality products, and they deliver to Washington Heights for $6.00. If you have a car, it is a quick trip and there is ample parking.

Inwood Greenmarket
The market is located Saturday mornings and afternoons on Isham St. between Seaman Ave and Cooper St. It is open in early July and runs until Thanksgiving. Good for fresh eggs, milk, baked goods, and produce from local farmers.

Washington Heights CSA

Tel: 646-382-9047. Email: info@littleseed.org. The Washington Heights CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) is a neighborhood food-buying club whose members purchase a "share" in the produce of a nearby organic family farm, and food is delivered weekly from June through October (21 weeks) to Fort Tryon Park, behind the New Leaf Café. Members receive high-quality, just-harvested vegetables at good prices.
